Summer Math Opportunities
Happy Lunch Hero Day!
Exciting Projects Happening
We finished our first round of testing (Science) this week. We will have testing over the next two weeks (Language Arts and then Math). During that time students will be working in class on their projects, but some of the work is required to be done at home. Here is a brief overview:
Each student has their own state and is required to complete a report, electronic presentation, and a float. Each student has their own schedule and folder. Information here: Requirements
Students are working individually or in groups. Some of them have chosen projects that require them to do work at home. They have been told to get permission and include parents when necessary. Information here: Requirements
Music on the Green
Congratulations to Carly Ramos for winning the
t-shirt design contest.
The 5th grade song is "Eye of the Tiger". Students are encouraged to download the song to their iPads and listen/learn the lyrics. Mr. Fleck has created a page on his website with our song and lyrics. Get it here.
Congratulations to Shaylee Martinez
Shaylee submitted a logo design to the Vista Unified School district. They have selected it as their 100th Anniversary logo. Please read the district mail comment below:
This logo will be used on posters and pins as we host superintendents and school personnel from the League of Innovative Schools in April. They will be coming to us from across the United States. Hundreds of people will see and enjoy this artwork.
Shaylee, you are amazing! Thank you.

Help make a difference!
I purchased earbuds for all the students in December. They have shown to be very unreliable and I have gone through almost 40 pairs with our class alone. The school purchased nice headphones, but we only have 15 pairs, far less than needed. So as we are reading and doing great digital media, we are falling short on our tech needs. I have setup a Donors Choose page and ask that you make a donation, not only for your student the rest of the year, but I am hopeful they will last for classes to come:
UPDATE: My own wonderful family and friends stepped up and funded the entire $647 for the headphones. I will be having the kids send a special thank you to them for their support. There are some other things we want in the class, so please think about contributing to those.

Online Reading Log
There is an electronic version of the reading log available from the Links menu above. If students are not able to submit reading log electronically, they should complete a paper form at home and then enter it electronically during available time at school. Download form below.
